The Lookout-V is a snapshot camera that uses the GSM cellular network to transmit JPEG images to the Internet.
Lookout-V requires between 3.5 and 15 volts DC. Average current draw is very low but brief peaks of power are required during transmission. Colorado Video provides a variety of choices for supplying power to Lookout-V.
The Model 4553 Charge Controlled Lithium Ion Battery provides 3.8 Volts at 4.4 amp hours. Depending on the operating configuration of the camera, this battery is likely to provide enough power for about 600 picture transmissions without charging. Solar panels and other DC power sources up to 18 volts can be connected directly to this battery’s charge input.
Charging the battery at remote locations can be achieved with the Model 41012 10 Watt Photo Voltaic Panel. Under peak sunshine, this panel will charge the Model 4553 Battery fully in under eight hours. This PV panel is an aluminum framed, commercial grade, solar panel, designed for long term outdoor use and includes a 15 foot UV resistant cable.
The Model 4823 5VDC 1200mA AC power adapter can be used to run Lookout-V directly or, if battery backup is desired, in conjunction with the Model 4553 Battery. The AC adapter can also be used to charge the battery while it is disconnected from Lookout-V.
